BET ON BLUE

Rich and vibrant turquoise takes top honors as 2010 color of the year from Pantone, the recognized expert on color. All shades of blue have long been amongst America's favorite hues, whether in fashion, home, or crayons. Color it blue.

Today's turquoise goes sophisticated when paired with grey, particularly in contemporary interiors and becomes a bit more lively when teamed with chartreuse or orange (loved by most of us in small doses). The color holds up well with golds, browns and other shades of blue.

The feeling of turquoise is calming and serene – think tropical oceans – and some cultures believe the color to be a protective talisman. Taking its shade from the colors of the sea and the sky, turquoise evokes a momentary escape to a tropical island.

This hue is perfect throughout the house to brighten existing décor. It complements reds and pinks, pairs with deeper blues to become nautical and livens up other greens. Pair turquoise with yellow-greens for the hottest look of the season. Come see our showrooms for great ways to go turquoise!

BIG APPLE OPENING

Global Views will open a year-round showroom at the New York Design Center, 200 Lexington, in August. The Grand Opening party will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, one day prior to opening day of the New York International Gift Fair. The new design center space is 613.

“Having a presence in the design community in New York is important to Global Views,” said David Gebhart, president and CEO, in making the announcement. “We want our company to continue to be easy for designers to shop. This is another extension of our commitment to helping our designer customers be more successful.”

COLOR YOURSELF SMART

If the contemporary NeoCon show in Chicago is on your schedule for June, don't miss a special color seminar June 14. And enjoy a yummy cupcake, too. Color is the magic potion that brightens your store and tempts your customer to buy. In this seminar, learn about color choices and the emotions they evoke. You will leave with skills to make the right choices that can make the difference between good and great.

Color expert Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of Pantone Color Institute, is the speaker for Color Trends in Residential: The Catalyst that Creates Change.

Global Views’ rep group Casa Bella will host the seminar at 1 p.m. in Showroom 1520. Co-sponsors are NeoCon and ASID. The session is CIU-credited. After the seminar, head to the Global Views showroom (1578) for a special color-coordinated cupcake and giveaway bag in today’s hottest colors, turquoise and green.

LEARNING IN LAS VEGAS

Global Views CEO David Gebhart will present a special seminar at the upcoming Las Vegas Gift + Home Market on “Merchandising Gift Selections with Global Views.”

Gebhart will use the company’s newest gift collection as backdrop to help retailers review the basics of merchandising. He will discuss color segmentation, duplication of key selling items, using repetition to create interest and excitement, price point layering to capture dollars from all walk-in customers, and more.

Come join this lively discussion with one of the industry’s leading style-makers in the Global Views showroom (Suite A454) on opening day at 10 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. The seminar is free to all retailers.
