The Monastery of Santa Maria - Alcobaca, Portugal

"Some men see things as they are and say why - I dream things that never were and say why not."

Inspiration Is Everywhere...

What inspires you?

The perspective of a product developer might be to view everything with an eye for beauty and the ability to hone in on unique details that the rest of us might miss. Inspiration is constant with these creatives. They see the big picture and the details that might go unnoticed by the rest of us.

The talented Product Development teams for Global Views and Studio A Home are currently wrapping up their extensive two month world tour, in Portugal. Their photos will take us on a virtual tour of an area of Portugal that provides insight to how travel translates to product:

This is the facade of

the Alcobaca Monastery, in the Oeste subregion of Portugal. In the photo above we see the church in the middle and the plain-style wings of the Monastery to each side. The church and monastery were the first Gothic buildings in Portugal, founded by the first Portuguese King, Afonso Henriques, in 1153. The Alcobaca Monastery is one tot the first foundations of the Cistercian Order in Portugal.

Let's zoom in to the roofline.

These are the details that caught our product developers' eyes. And the result:

Again, another beautiful view of an area of the monastery.

And again, zooming in on a detail....

which became the Global Views Pyramid Obelisk

The team had always envisioned what could be done with these finial/obelisk shapes, and finally got them to come together as products - during their trip last year. We look forward to getting the team back home from their 2015 world travels to see what is next...
